The GigaVox Media network has launched with our first three channels: IT Conversations, Open Source Conversations and the Podcast Academy. Learn more at the GigaVox Media homepage.
Podcast Academy 4
In all the excitement over the past few weeks, I forgot to post the info for PA4, to be held on September 28, the day before (and in conjunction with) the Podcast and Portable Media Expo in Ontario, California. Here’s the one-day curriculum:
- Planning – Developing A Podcast Initiative
Michael Geoghegan (Willnick Productions, Official Disneyland Resort Podcast) - Scale – The Magic Behind TWiT
Leo Laporte (This Week in Tech) - Implementation – Case Studies From a Corporate Podcast Producer
Greg Cangialosi (Blue Sky Factory) - Integration – Successful Web Design for Podcasting
Kris Smith (Croncast, Palegroove Studios) - Legal – Navigating the Legal Considerations of Podcasts
Denise Howell (Bag and Baggage) - Video Podcast Primer: Do it Yourself, or Hire it Out?
Craig Syverson (gruntmedia) - Inside the Production β A Live Episode of 88SLIDE
Noah Bonnett and Rachel Rhodes (88SLIDE) - Viral Video – The Secret To Spreading Your Content
Tim Street (French Maid TV) - Engaging the Audience – Adding Interactivity to Video Podcasts
Alex Lindsay (MacBreak, Pixel Corps)
Early registration is still available for only $149. Hope to see you there and at the Expo.
I’m Back!
Blogarithms was down for the past week due to (a) a hacker who wiped out my server, and (b) my being in the middle of launching the GigaVox Media web sites (four of ’em). Now that those sites are somewhat stable — still a few gnarly bugs — I was able to focus on restoring the blog. Of course, my last backup of the database was two months ago — insert dope slap here — so we’ve lost all posts and comments after June 3. There was a problem with my automated backup script, so rather than fix it, I just decided to run it manually, oh…every 60 days or so. π
PA3: The Final Frontier
Well, perhaps not the final frontier, but here’s what should be the final curriculum for Podcast Academy 3 to be held in less than two weeks (June 15-16) at Yahoo!’s Santa Clara campus. We still have a few seats left, so register now.

Happy Birthday, IT Conversations
Today is the third anniversary of the first program published on IT Conversations, renewing our status as the oldest still-publishing podcast. One year ago today I wrote:
IT Conversations now has 553 programs either published or at some stage of post-production and weβre releasing 9-11 each week thanks to the amazing 42 members of Team ITC.
That first program was my interview with Phil Windley, who is now the Executive Producer of IT Conversations. Who would have thought?
Today the total number of shows published or in producton is 1,081, and next week we’ll launch our second channel, with more to follow shortly.
Dan & David & Me
I had the privilege of joining Dan Farber and David Berlind on today’s Dan & Dave Show. Dan lives about a half a mile away, but I’ve never met David face-to-face. Really need to do something about that.
CN Update: May 30, 2006
It’s been four weeks since my last podcast, so here’s an update from The Conversations Network (mp3).
Citizen San Jose
Joe Carpenter has done a terrific job putting together Citizen San Jose, a web/podcast site that offers recordings of civic events and campaign debates. This is exactly what we want to do with the grassroots side of The Conversations Network, and I hope to meet with Joe in a few weeks to see how we can work together.
Help Wanted: Editors and Engineers
As we continue to expand The Conversations Network, we occasionally have openings in our apprenticeship program. We’re now accepting applications for both post-production audio engineers (PEs) and website editors (WEs). If you have solid audio-editing experience or *good* English skills and want to join our team and make a few $$ while contributing to our project, here’s an opportunity.
Podcast Academy 3: Update
We’ve got a few seats left for Podcast Academy 3 at Yahoo! (Santa Clara) on June 15-16, and the curriculum is nearly completed. Hope to see you there.
